Draveil, the town

Draveil (pronounced [d̪ʁavɛj]) is a French commune situated twenty kilometres south-east of Paris in the département of l'Essonne in the Île-de-France region. It is the chief town of the canton de Draveil and of the doyenné de Sénart-Draveil.
A little history
Human presence during the Neolithic period is attested by the discovery of the menhir known as the Pierre à Mousseaux, dated to the 4th millennium before Jesus Christ (and listed as a Monument historique in 1889), and confirmed by the presence of knapped flint tools and weapons at Mainville and of flint, tools, axes and knives at the site where Port aux cerises stands today. The Gauls called the place Dracvern, meaning the spirit of the alders. The Romans called it Dravernum.
