Exposée à un climat méditerranéen, elle est drainée par le Gard, le Bourdic, le ruisseau de Braune, le ruisseau de Goutajon, Valat de Gouloubert et par divers autres petits cours d'eau. Incluse dans les gorges du Gardon, la commune possède un patrimoine naturel remarquable, trois sites Natura 2000 (« le Gardon et ses gorges », les « gorges du Gardon » et le « camp des Garrigues ») et quatre zones naturelles d'intérêt écologique, faunistique et floristique.
