Damigny, the town
Damigny covers 4.8 km², lies between 140 and 179 m above sea level and had 2,446 inhabitants in the 2023 census.
Damigny is a French commune located in the Orne department in the Normandie region, with a population of 2,446 inhabitants.
A little history
Once a large rural village leading its own life, Damigny gradually transformed from the late 1960s into a residential suburb of Alençon. The pastures and ploughed fields that once separated the two communes have become estates of individual houses (the lotissement du Printemps), so much so that Damigny is increasingly absorbed into the agglomeration of Alençon. Damigny had the distinction of hosting on its communal territory the first centre of higher education in the Orne, the Institut supérieur de plasturgie d'Alençon (ISPA), established at the lieu-dit Montfoulon, to the west of the village.
