Cuisery, the town

Cuisery is a French commune situated in the département of Saône-et-Loire, in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The nearby presence of the A6 motorway and numerous other road links make the commune very accessible from the whole of French territory. Cuisery is situated in the small tourist area known as la Bresse louhannaise, which corresponds administratively to the arrondissement of Louhans, but also to the southern limits of the oïl-speaking territories.
A little history
During the Tertiary era, la Bresse occupied the central part of what was an immense lake stretching from the south of the Vosges to the north of the Massif du Vercors. This lake drained towards the Mediterranean Sea to the south of what is today the city of Valence, near the confluence of the Drôme with the Rhône. The glacial barrier formed by the monts du Vivarais and du Tricastin played the role of a water level regulator for this lake. Around the middle of the Tertiary era, during the Oligocene and the Miocene, vast geological movements caused the waters to flow southwards and the progressive drying out of this Bressan lake.
