Cormontreuil is a French commune situated in the Marne département in the Grand Est region. It forms part of the Reims Métropole agglomération community. Its inhabitants are called the Cormontreuillois (a Cormontreuillois, a Cormontreuilloise).
A little history
Excavations carried out in 2001 at the place known as les Blancs Monts revealed an occupation of the site dating from the protohistoric period. Since the end of the 19th century, the commune had been a holiday retreat for the inhabitants of Reims, served by the Chemins de fer de la Banlieue de Reims (C.B.R.) and hosted popular dances, bathing in the Vesle and grand bourgeois residences, including the château de la Morinerie, formerly the château Duchâtel de Montflambert and then Pinon, the château Dauphinot built in 1875, and the maison Cocquebert de Montfort, later Givelet. In 1892, a washhouse was built on the Vesle right next to the moulin Monlauren.
