A little history
Congis-sur-Thérouanne is of Gallo-Roman origin. The village is mentioned for the first time in a deed of 1135, by which Manassès Ier, bishop of Meaux, gave the church of Saint-Rémi to the chapter of his cathedral. In 1200, Anseau, bishop of Meaux, offered the parish church of Saint-Rémi de Congis to the religious of Chambre-Fontaine. The village, situated within the territories of the comte de Brie et de Champagne, had the advantage of remaining under his immediate suzerainty.
