A little history
The first known human trace at Cogolin is found in the quartier de l'Amirauté. At the roadside, flint fragments were collected dating from the Upper Palaeolithic. In the Neolithic period, the most important site is located at Portonfus. At the end of the Neolithic period, significant occupation is attested by numerous small settlements, Potonfus, la Gavotte, L'Isle, le ruisseau Perier, l'Hermittan, les Crottes, Saint-Maur, l'Argentière and la Chêneraie.
