A little history
The parish is mentioned from the 12th century onwards. The seigneurie de La Palud is a fief under the suzerainty of Savoie since 1300. It is the birthplace of the noble family de La Palu(d), one of the great houses of Bresse, which held numerous other fiefs including Varambon, Saint-Julien, Richemont, Bouligneux, Varax and Saint-Maurice in Bresse and Dombes, as well as the comté de La Roche and Saint-Hippolyte, Maîche, Cusance and Villersexel in Franche-Comté. It was formerly a parish (Boblan, parrochia de Pubiens, villa Publiana, Bublens, Bublan, de Bublanna, Bublane), under the patronage of Saint Georges, and was an annex of the parish of Châtillon from the 13th century.
