A little history
The Gallo-Romans left numerous traces of their presence in the commune, which was notably crossed by the Roman via of Agrippa, a road linking Cabillonum (Chalon-sur-Saône) to Augustodunum (Autun). A Roman milestone, known as the borne de Corcelle, dedicated to the emperor Maximin Ier le Thrace and to his son the Caesar Maxime, was found at the edge of this road, at the far end of the park of the château de Corcelle. It indicates a distance of 32,000 paces (passus) from Autun. It is on display at the musée Denon, in Chalon-sur-Saône.
