A little history
For a long time, the commune of Champagne-sur-Seine was a rural village with an uneventful past, occupied, for the most part, by market gardeners and wine growers, much like the neighbouring commune of Thomery. However, a fundamental change came about at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1902, the compagnie Schneider decided to establish, not far from Paris, electrical engineering workshops to supply equipment for the Métropolitain. The site of Champagne was chosen, between a bend in the Seine and the PLM line.
