A little history
Human presence on the site of present-day Ceyzériat dates back to approximately 120,000 years before our era. Indeed, tools made of knapped flint, such as arrowheads or lance tips, were discovered on the territory of the commune, most notably at Cuiron and near Mont-Jully. Archaeological excavations have also made it possible to build up a picture of the fauna of that time. Bones of mammoths, elephants and leopards were among the remains uncovered.
