A little history

The communal territory was occupied as early as the Middle Palaeolithic, as proved by the excavations carried out in the grotte Vaufrey. This site has also yielded numerous objects from the Bronze Age. The abbaye de Moissac founded a priory at Cénac at the end of the 11th century. From the Middle Ages onwards, Cénac, sometimes referred to as Domme-Basse or Domme-Vieille in old records, maintained close ties with the royal bastide of Domme, founded in 1281 on the neighbouring plateau.
