A little history
The first inhabitants of the plateau settled there as early as the Neolithic period (between 5000 and 2500 AD). A first Gaulish village abandoned the hill to settle on the peninsula. The village, belonging to the "fédération" of the Nitiobroges, was named "Clairière dans la forêt de chênes", Latinised as Cassinogilium. Having formerly lived from river boating, it turned its activity towards the manufacture of tinned food and the cultivation of the prune d'ente, which earned it the name of "Patrie du pruneau".
