Breuillet (pronounced [bʁøjɛ]) is a French commune situated thirty-five kilometres south-west of Paris in the département of l'Essonne in the Île-de-France region. Its inhabitants are called the Breuilletois.
A little history
An ancient prévôté under the authority of the château du Louvre, reunited with the Baronnie de Saint-Yon, the land of Breuillet was given to the Hôtel-Dieu de Paris then acquired by Guillaume de Lamoignon, Seigneur de Baville, first president of the parlement de Paris. Second World War During the bataille de France, on 15 June 1940, the 3e compagnie of the 3e régiment de zouaves, which had landed in France three weeks earlier from Algeria and had been retreating from Gometz, received orders to establish an anti-tank barrier along the Rémarde, in order to delay the German advance and allow the retreat of French troops, holding out until 22h before joining the first battalion at Jouy.
