Bourbon-Lancy is a French commune situated in the département of Saône-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. It is known, in particular, for its thermal spa, which is the last still in operation in Bourgogne along with that of Saint-Honoré-les-Bains.
A little history
Bourbon-Lancy has been known since Antiquity for its thermal waters which, from the Romans to the spa visitors of the 21st century, treat rheumatism. The Roman-era settlement, located on the territory of the Éduens people, appears to have developed under the reigns of the emperors Auguste and Tibère on the outskirts of an important water sanctuary whose tutelary deities, Borvo / Apollon and Damona, are known through several ancient inscriptions found in the commune. This place of worship must have been situated close to the current thermal baths, which cover the spring catchments and the Roman baths, still visible in the 17th century.
