Beaurepaire, the town

Beaurepaire covers 18.5 km², lies between 225 and 315 m above sea level and had 5,010 inhabitants in the 2023 census.

Beaurepaire is a French commune situated in the département of Isère in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and, formerly attached to the ancient province of Dauphiné. Geographically, the territory of the commune of Beaurepaire is positioned in the south-east of France to the east of the vallée du Rhône, in the territory of Bièvre-Valloire which is one of the thirteen territories of Isère. This commune was part of the communauté de communes du Territoire de Beaurepaire, of which it hosted the seat, before being attached to the communauté de communes Entre Bièvre et Rhône.

A little history

During the Middle Neolithic, farmers who had migrated from the south of the current metropolitan French territory moved northwards and colonised the region. These individuals belonged to the Chasséen civilisation, which they spread rapidly from the Mediterranean as far as the north of Burgundy. Three prehistoric settlement sites dating from this period, located in the vicinity of Beaurepaire, have been identified, at the site of la Croix Trouva at Bressieux, on the territory of the neighbouring communes of Lapeyrouse-Mornay and Moras-en-Valloire. At Primarette, four kilometres to the north of the commune, a flint bladelet core was discovered.
