A little history
The site was occupied by the Ligures, then by the Romans. At the beginning of the 11th century, the town depended on the castrum de Pontevès. In the 14th century, Barjols was a residence of the counts of Provence. It played host to Marie d'Anjou on her return from captivity under King Alphonse IV d'Aragon after June 1337, having been freed by her brother Robert le Sage.
