A little history
Traces of settlement have been uncovered, notably in the gorges du Blavet (the result of excavations held at the musée de Roquebrune-sur-Argens), and at the Oppidium (on display at the musée de Bagnols-en-Forêt). After the creation of Fréjus by Jules César, many Romans settled near the new port, which was enlarged under the emperor Octave. The presence of poorly drained marshland in Fréjus led certain families to settle in Bagnols-en-Forêt. In the 10th century, a village existed as early as 909, according to documents from the abbaye de Cluny.
