A little history
An oratory was built by monks from Braux in the 11th century at this location, forming a ford on the Meuse. Three other distinct hamlets existed at the time, Manicourt, Champeau and Gely. In 1903, an anarchist colony was founded by a Parisian, Jean-Charles Fortuné Henry, at Aiglemont, soon joined by other sympathisers. The group of houses became a place of curiosity, political agitation and the dissemination of ideas, notably through a journal, the Cubilot.
