Valgelon-La Rochette is the new commune resulting from the merger of the communes of La Rochette and Étable on 1 January 2019 (prefectoral order of 20 December 2018). The commune is situated at the foot of the Belledonne range, between Chambéry, Albertville and Grenoble. Close to the Grésivaudan, the commune has a strategic position, near the most renowned alpine ski resorts (Val d'Isère, Tignes, Val-Thorens, Les Arcs, La Plagne, Courchevel and les 3 Vallées, les Sybelles).
A little history
Created on 1 January 2019 by a prefectoral order of 20 December 2018, the new commune resulted from the grouping together of the communes of Étable and La Rochette, which became delegated communes.
