A little history
Although the village of Valbonne only appeared at the beginning of the modern period (1519), its territory has yielded evidence of ancient occupation. The aven de la Mort de Lambert consists of a series of chambers that have yielded numerous human remains, as well as a deposit of cereals associated with hand-built ceramics and the remains of bronze tools and ornaments. The most obvious function of the site is funerary, though its use as a place for the temporary storage of food is generally accepted. The entirety of the artefacts points to the Bronze Age.
