Val d'Anast, the town

Val d'Anast covers 77.9 km², sits at 0 m above sea level and had 3,930 inhabitants in the 2023 census.

Val d'Anast [val danast] has been, since 1 January 2017, a new French commune situated in the département of Ille-et-Vilaine in the région of Bretagne, grouping together the former communes of Maure-de-Bretagne and Campel.

A little history

Negotiations for the creation of a new commune brought together around ten communes as early as 2015. But as discussions progressed, several of them, such as Mernel, Bovel and Loutehel, withdrew from the project. In 2016, when four communes were still involved, La Chapelle-Bouëxic and Les Brulais finally left the discussions in their turn. The new commune was created on 1 January 2017 and groups together the communes of Campel and Maure-de-Bretagne, which became delegated communes.
