Val-d'Aigoual is a new French commune formed by the merger of the communes of Notre-Dame-de-la-Rouvière and Valleraugue, located in the département of Gard, in the région of Occitanie.
A little history
On 28 June 2018, the municipal councils of the communes of Valleraugue and Notre-Dame-de-la-Rouvière adopted the wish to merge the two communes under the name of Val-d'Aigoual. The meeting of 25 September 2018 confirmed the merger of the communes so that it would take effect on 1 January 2019, with a view to pooling resources and optimising financial and territorial management. A prefectural order setting out the arrangements was issued on 26 September 2018, specifying that the chief town is situated in the former commune of Valleraugue. On 1 January 2019, the commune of Val-d'Aigoual took over the administrative functions of the former communes of Valleraugue and Notre-Dame-de-la-Rouvière.
