A little history
Having arrived near the valley of the Rhône at the beginning of 1382, the Tuchins encamped in the gorges of the Cèze where they were joined by nobles including Régis de Saint-Michel-d'Euzet, Étienne Augier, known as Ferragut du Pin, Vachon de Pont-Saint-Esprit and Verchère de Vénéjan, who took command. They then seized Cavillargues, Chusclan and Tresques, before pillaging the châteaux of Sabran, La Roque-sur-Cèze, Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres and Cornillon. In this last château was kept the treasure of Clément VI. His nephew, Guillaume III Roger de Beaufort, at the time Lieutenant des armes du Sénéchal de Beaucaire, organised the repression.
