A little history
Its privileged position on the estuary of the Touques has allowed it, as far back as one can trace in time, to confirm the predominance of what was its political, maritime and economic character until the beginning of the 19th century, when the development of Trouville and then Deauville led to the construction of a railway line that diverted the course of the Touques, which had become less and less navigable for barges due to silting. Fragments of ceramics dating from the 1st century AD were found during works on the forecourt of the église Saint-Pierre. Guillaume le Conquérant, having become King of England, landed there to come and inspect his Norman duchy.
