A little history
The town is considered to have been destroyed at the end of the war and was awarded the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 on 20 September 1920. The commune was also awarded the Croix de guerre 1939-1945 on 11 November 1948. On 31 July 1950, France successfully carried out the first launch of its fusée Véronique, from the military base at Suippes. The craft rose only 3 metres into the air and remained attached to its launch pad, with the flight ending in failure.
