Sèvres, the town
Sèvres covers 3.9 km², lies between 27 and 171 m above sea level and had 22,303 inhabitants in the 2023 census. Its inhabitants are called the Sévriens.
Sèvres (prononciation) is a French commune in the département des Hauts-de-Seine in the Île-de-France region. It borders the communes of Chaville, Boulogne-Billancourt (from which it is separated by the Seine), Meudon, Ville-d'Avray and Saint-Cloud. It is situated on the edge of and on the left bank of the Seine.
A little history
The first written mention of Sèvres appears in 558, in the act of foundation by Childebert of the abbaye de Saint-Germain-des-Près, whose boundaries extended as far as the ruisseau de Savara. In 560, a church and a small village existed. Destroyed and rebuilt over the centuries of invasions and wars, the current church, dedicated to Saint-Romain, patron saint of bargemen, has retained the base of the twelfth-century bell tower and bays from the thirteenth century. In 1756, madame de Pompadour had the porcelain manufactory transferred from Vincennes to Sèvres. This marked the beginning of the manufacture de Sèvres.

Selling in Sèvres
Pricing in Sèvres starts by placing your property inside the €4,793 to €6,455 band rather than on the median alone. The median describes the middle of the market; condition, floor, outdoor space and energy rating decide where in the band you sit.
With 220 sales a year, Sèvres absorbs correctly priced properties. An over-ambitious price shows quickly, because buyers have points of comparison.
Briveo values your Sèvres property from the same DVF file, keeping only sales of comparable properties closest to your address, free of charge and with no obligation, then supports the sale through to the deed.
Buying in Sèvres
Reading the €4,793 to €6,455 band is a buyer’s main tool in Sèvres. A property at the bottom is not a bargain and one at the top is not a rip-off, the band measures how different the properties are, not how well they are priced.
Prices moving up narrow the room for negotiation without closing it, a property that has been on the market a long time is negotiable whatever the trend says.
Acquisition costs are budgeted on top of the price, around 8 % on an existing property, around 3 % on a new one. These are orders of magnitude; the notary computes the exact amount.

No five-year reading is available for Sèvres. The apartment sales we currently use (2023 à 2025) do not go back far enough to compute one, so the long-term direction cannot be stated here.
Among the towns tracked by BRIVEO in the same department, on the median apartment price, Rueil-Malmaison sits 1 % below and Neuilly-sur-Seine 87 % above. Those are the gaps a buyer widening their search area actually meets.
