A little history
Certain etymologists of the 18th and 19th centuries sought to find in the name Issy a connection with that of the goddess Isis and to show that the village was dedicated to her. This is probably a fanciful assertion. The presence of her cult in the Gaulish provinces of the Roman Empire, including the basin of Lutèce, is admittedly attested by numerous epigraphic sources, but there appear to be few serious historical foundations concerning the site of Issy. Childebert Ier gave a part of it to the church of Saint-Vincent de Paris. Hugues Capet followed his example, and Robert distributed the remainder of the domain to other churches. In 907, Charles le Simple resided there.
