A little history
Whilst the Tarentaise appears to have been populated as early as the 5th millennium BC by the Ceutrons, no remains bear witness to any human presence in the commune of Sainte-Foy before the Romans settled there around the 3rd century BC. The Tarentaise was then successively occupied by the Burgondes (a Nordic people) until the 10th century, then administered by the archbishops of Charlemagne, who did their best to protect the populations against the invasions of the Saracens.
