Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey is a French commune situated in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Its inhabitants are called the Vallerois. By decree of 17 May 1957, Journal officiel of 22 May 1957 with effect from 23 May 1957, Saint-Vallier became Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey.
A little history
Saint Vallier was bishop of Antibes. He was martyred in the 4th century by the Visigoths during their invasion of Provence. Le Thiey is the mountain that dominates the village (1,452 m). On the Place de l'Apiè, one can see the bust of Napoléon commemorating his passing through on 2 March 1815 on his return from the île d'Elbe, as well as the bench on which he sat.
