Located in the région of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is the small capital of the Alpilles. Following the decree of 30 January 2007, its territory is classified within the parc naturel régional des Alpilles.
A little history
The territory of Saint-Rémy has been inhabited since Prehistoric times, as evidenced by the rock engravings found in the grotte Otello, which archaeologists describe as an "ornamented cave". The paintings date back to the final Neolithic period and the Bronze Age. They consist of anthropomorphic and geometric signs. The site of Romanin is contemporary with that of the grotte.
