A little history
During the French Revolution, the commune temporarily bore the name La Font-le-Vieux. For at least three centuries, the various lords of Saint-Privat belonged to the family "Des Vieux". In 1813, the commune absorbed the neighbouring commune of Saint-Alban which, during the French Revolution, had temporarily borne the name Marat-de-Bruège. In 1881 there were 973 inhabitants, in 1954 there were 1,432, and now there are 5,117 inhabitants.
