Saint-Priest-en-Jarez (pronounced [sɛ̃pʁijɛ ɑ̃ ʒaʁɛ]) is a French commune situated in the département de la Loire in the région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Its inhabitants are known as the Mounards. The name Saint-Priest-en-Jarez is said to derive from a hermit called Saint-Priest who lived in a cave on a hill in 666.

A little history

The tradition surrounding the founding of the church of Saint-Priest-en-Jarez, put forward by the abbé de Soleysel (1691), draws on the hagiographic elements of the martyrdom of Priest de Clermont. An accomplice of Ébroïn, he was hunted down and then murdered at Volvic on 25 January 676 in reprisal for the assassination of the patrice de Provence Hector. According to local tradition, Prix had lived there as a hermit before becoming bishop of Clermont from 666 to 676. The construction of the church is attributed to one of his murderers, Ursion, who thus atoned for his complicity in the killing of the Auvergnat saint.

Selling in Saint-Priest-en-Jarez

Pricing in Saint-Priest-en-Jarez starts by placing your property inside the €1,847 to €2,816 band rather than on the median alone. The median describes the middle of the market; condition, floor, outdoor space and energy rating decide where in the band you sit.

With 91 sales a year, Saint-Priest-en-Jarez is regular without being deep. Positioning matters more here than in a dense market, because a buyer who steps back is not immediately replaced.

Briveo values your Saint-Priest-en-Jarez property from the same DVF file, keeping only sales of comparable properties closest to your address, free of charge and with no obligation, then supports the sale through to the deed.

Buying in Saint-Priest-en-Jarez

Reading the €1,847 to €2,816 band is a buyer’s main tool in Saint-Priest-en-Jarez. A property at the bottom is not a bargain and one at the top is not a rip-off, the band measures how different the properties are, not how well they are priced.

Prices moving down give a buyer room to discuss, provided the argument rests on comparable sales rather than on the trend itself.

Acquisition costs are budgeted on top of the price, around 8 % on an existing property, around 3 % on a new one. These are orders of magnitude; the notary computes the exact amount.

How the Saint-Priest-en-Jarez market is moving

Over the last twelve published months the median apartment price moved by -5 %. A drop of that size deserves the same caution as a rise, since it may come from the mix of properties sold rather than from a fall in value.

No five-year reading is available for Saint-Priest-en-Jarez. The apartment sales we currently use (2023 à 2025) do not go back far enough to compute one, so the long-term direction cannot be stated here.
