Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert, pronounced locally either "Saint-Just" or "Saint-Rambert" depending on the area being referred to, (Sent-Just-Sent-Rambèrt in Arpitan) is a French commune, situated in the département de la Loire in the région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, forming part of Loire Forez Agglomération. Its inhabitants are known as the Pontrambertois. The Pontois are the inhabitants of Saint-Just-sur-Loire and the Rambertois those of Saint-Rambert-sur-Loire.
A little history
Saint-Just-sur-Loire is an industrial town. Its history is bound up with that of river boating, dyeing, glassmaking and metallurgy. Situated on the banks of the Loire, Saint-Just was, until the mid-19th century, the departure point for the "rambertes", which transported coal and other goods sometimes as far as Nantes or Paris. In 1937, the hamlet of Étrat and the cret du Brizet became famous following the discovery of the "Vénus aux navets".
