A little history
A village from the 10th century onwards. In 1173, the exchange between the comte de Forez and the Église de Lyon indicates that the archbishop of Lyon ceded his rights over Saint-Héand (Sanctus Engendus) to the comte. Since the end of the Middle Ages, its renown and interest were such that in the 15th century Guillaume Revel sketched the château in his armorial, judging it worthy of featuring among the notable sites of the region. A few vestiges of this medieval settlement still remain.
