A little history
Bronze Age objects and Roman objects were found in the last century in the former marine limestone quarry, near la Noé. These limestones are vestiges of the presence of the ocean during the Tertiary era, in what has since become the Bassin de Rennes. From its former name "la Ville rouge", due to the colour of its walls, a Gallo-Roman origin has been deduced. Saint-Grégoire was crossed by the Roman road running from Condate (Rennes) to Avranches, still referred to in the 19th century as the "chemin de la Reine-Anne".
