A little history
Aerial archaeology has identified traces of ancient buildings (currently undated) in various parts of the commune, at Tierceville for example. In 475 BC, at Fenestrelay (le Porteau), remains (post holes, ceramics, a burial) dated to the La Tène period were found. Archaeologists have uncovered remains dating from this period, near Turly a section of the Roman road linking Avaricum (porte Gordaine) to Gardonicum (or Gortona, that is to say Saint Satur-Sancerre), an aqueduct at Nérigny, Galifar, Port Sec, villa rustica foundations at Nérigny, Turly (on the commune boundary), les Boubards...
