A little history
A gold stater with a laureate head and on the reverse a human-headed horse with a hippocampus above it was found at Saint-Georges-de-Reintembault. A lord by the name of Restenbault is said to be the founder of the parish in the first half of the 11th century. In the charters of the abbaye de Savigny, the parish is named around 1140 as «parrochia Sancti Georgii de Restanbaut». In 1588 the abbé de Rillé appointed a schoolmaster at Saint-Georges bearing the title of «maître universel de tout le territoire de Fougères, La Bazouges et Antrain».
