A little history
In the 1950s, numerous fossil footprints were identified in the quartier des Pas d'Ânes. Considered by tradition to belong to donkeys, they turned out to be those of anchitherium, a genus of equid that lived approximately 20 million years ago. The oldest human traces date from the Mesolithic and the late Bronze Age. The grotte de Saint-Mitre was frequented and has yielded several tombs. In Antiquity, the territory of Reillanne formed part of that of the Sogiontiques (Sogiontii), whose territory stretched from the south of the Baronnies to the Durance.
