A little history
Quingey is a town governed by a mayor since 1610 (the year of the assassination of King Henri IV, an event that Franche-Comté welcomed, as it was at the time an ultra-Catholic province united with Spain and enjoying a certain autonomy, only becoming truly French in 1678). It had its own bailliage but ultimately fell under the jurisdiction of that of Dole. The Cassini map, produced under Louis XV in 1747, records a furnace, a mill and a forge at Quingey. The mill of Saint-Renobert also appears on it.
