A little history
Over eight centuries, seventeen fires afflicted the town of Morteau. The most terrible occurred in 1639, 1683, 1702, 1849 and 1865. At the end of the Roman Empire, the Alamans invaded the region, followed by the Burgundians. The traité de Verdun, by creating the Francia Media in 843, united for the first time the two Swiss and French slopes of the Jura.
