Remains of prehistoric huts. The territory was part of the Gaulish tribe of the Segovellaunes. A road staging post and river port for the Greek trade of Massalia (Marseille). A Gallo-Roman villa, known as Saint Gervais, was discovered and partially excavated in the quartiers du Colombier and des Chaux (Valette, 1935, 1952 and 1962, Club Archéologique Crouzet, 1979, Tarpin, 1997 to 2000).
