The parish of Pleine-Fougères was part of the deanery of Dol, falling under the bishopric of Dol, and was under the patronage of Saint Martin. The baptismal font from the former baptistery still exists at the Île Saint-Samson in the marais du Mesnil (accessible via the Pontorson-Sougéal road). A menhir, the Roche Buquet, is located in the marais du Mesnil. In 1398, the family du Breil de Pontbriand is mentioned in the archives of the French noblesse de robe.
