Plaisance-du-Touch [plezɑ̃s(ə) dy tuʃ] is a French commune situated in the north of the département of Haute-Garonne, in the Occitanie region. From a historical and cultural standpoint, the commune lies within the Pays toulousain, which extends around Toulouse along the Garonne valley, bordered to the west by the hills of the Savès, to the east by those of the Lauragais and to the south by those of the valley of the Ariège and the Volvestre. Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Touch, the Aussonnelle, the Ousseau, the Merdagnou and various other small watercourses.
A little history
From Miniac to the Cistercian grange of Minhac. The territory of the present-day commune of Plaisance-du-Touch was known in the Middle Ages by the name of Miniac, then Minhac, Minag or Mignac depending on the spellings found in documents. The oldest currently known mention dates back to 1134. A deed preserved in the archives of the Hospitaliers refers to a piece of land situated between the Touch and the Aussau, and between Miniac and Laramet, making it possible to locate this territory in the area of present-day Plaisance-du-Touch. In 1164, Arnaud de Gironde, described by Charles Samaran and Charles Higounet as the seigneur de Minhac, granted a cens lease covering part of his territory.
