Castanet-Tolosan, the town
Castanet-Tolosan covers 8.2 km², lies between 145 and 281 m above sea level and had 15,317 inhabitants in the 2023 census.
Castanet-Tolosan is a French commune in the southern suburbs of Toulouse, situated in the département of Haute-Garonne, in the Occitanie region. From a historical and cultural standpoint, the commune lies within the Lauragais, the former "Pays de Cocagne", associated both with the cultivation of pastel and with the abundance of its produce, and known as the "grenier à blé du Languedoc". Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the canal du Midi and by various other small watercourses.
A little history
Castanet comes from the Latin castanea, meaning chestnut. Chestnut trees did indeed once cover its hillsides. The official addition of "Tolosan" by the municipal council dates only from 1918, in order to distinguish it from other communes bearing the same name in the region. Traces of very ancient constructions have been identified in what is today the quartier de Broc, all around the cemetery.

Buying in Castanet-Tolosan
Reading the €2,758 to €3,384 band is a buyer’s main tool in Castanet-Tolosan. A property at the bottom is not a bargain and one at the top is not a rip-off, the band measures how different the properties are, not how well they are priced.
