A little history
Excavations at the station des Rochers have revealed a fairly significant settlement with the remains of huts, pottery and a well-developed lithic and bone industry. A rock shelter yielded a burial site in which pottery, axes and arrowheads had been placed. The history of Piolenc during the Carolingian period is little known. In 843, with the traité de Verdun, the village, like the rest of Provence, Burgundy and Savoy, was attached to the kingdom of Lothaire Ier.
