A little history
Near Pierrevert, at the domaine de La Réserve, a small inscription was discovered attesting to the cult of lightning, on a spot it had struck. Lightning was indeed considered a supernatural phenomenon, an expression of the power of a deity (Jupiter or Taranis). The ground thus struck became sacred, isolated from the profane world by a small cylindrical enclosure (the puteal) and marked by an inscription.
