A little history
Jules César, during his conquest of Gaul, drove the Allobroges out of Vienne, which became Colonia Julia. From the assassination of César in the year 44, the Allobroges took back their city from the Romans. The Romans exiled from Vienne went on to found the city of Lyon (Lugdunum). The Romans took great care over the water supply of their cities and were quickly drawn to the crystal-clear, pure water of the mountains.
