A little history
From the first centuries, there existed a castellaras on a promontory overlooking the plain of the Siagne. However, numerous barbarian invasions and incursions by the Moors left the entire territory deserted. The plain was then nothing more than a vast, unhealthy marsh where the inhabitants could not settle. The name Pégomas appeared for the first time in 1130 when the counts of Toulouse ceded these lands of "Pégomacio" to the abbaye de Lérins.
