A little history
Between 1870 and 1880, Panissières, which had 5,000 inhabitants, was calling for a link with Feurs. A project by Charles Lartigue was adopted, Le Monorail. This single-rail mode of transport first came into being between Listowel and Ballybunion in Ireland. It could carry around a hundred passengers, accommodated in eight carriages, and took 35 minutes to cover 16 kilometres amid a tremendous noise.
